Celebrating and supporting you before your birth
We’ve all heard of a baby shower but how about a celebration that supports and celebrates you? A Mother Blessing is a chance to bring your nearest and dearest together to fill you up with love and confidence before your birth.
I am available to hold Mother Blessings in and around Dorset.
What is a Mother Blessing?
A Mother Blessing is derived from a blessingway which is a ceremony or gathering that honors and celebrates a pregnant person’s journey into motherhood. It is a spiritual and cultural tradition that originated from Navajo culture and is now practiced by many different communities around the world. The focus is on creating a supportive and positive environment for the expecting mother, rather than on gift-giving or baby-focused activities.
What does a Mother Blessing involve?
We can work together to curate the perfect celebration for you but here are some ideas you can include whilst sitting in circle with those you hold dear:
- Sharing of readings, poems and positive birth stories
- Sharing of support through pregnancy, birth and motherhood
- Making flower crowns
- Thread ceremony
- Belly painting or casting
- Foot soak/pedicure and general pampering of Mum to be!
- Refreshments

When will the session take place?
The session date and time will be agreed between us before payment is taken – I can hold blessings weekdays, evenings and weekends.
At what stage should I book my Mother Blessing?
Please get in touch as soon as possible to ensure that we can secure suitable dates.
Where will the Mother Blessing be held?
Ideally at your own home, if this is not possible alternative venues can be arranged at an extra cost. I can travel within Wimborne, Bournemouth and Poole free of charge. Longer distances may incur a mileage fee.
How much does a Mother Blessing cost?
It is dependent on the activities you wish to include and how involved you wish to be with the preparation. Prices start from £110 which includes holding the ceremony for 1.5 hours, preparation of readings, information packs for guests, candles* and flowers for setup of circle space.
*Candles for mother and six guests, for any additional guests extra charges will apply.
